Signed, Sealed, Delivered: U.S. Postal Service Reissues Wedding Cake Stamp
Before brides-to-be send those special wedding invites, they may need to add another thing to their to do list: getting more stamps.
The U.S. Postal Service recently released a new version of the Wedding Cake stamp. Although the artwork is the same – a photograph of a three-tier cake decorated with white flowers – at a 66-cent price point, the stamp coincides with the 1-cent price increase that began Jan. 27.
Sold at the two-ounce price, the Wedding Cake stamp covers the cost of a heavier wedding invitation or other mail that needs extra postage. It originally was issued in 2009 and is a product of the work of cake designer and pastry chef Peter Brett of Washington, D.C.; photographer Renée Comet, also of Washington, D.C.; and art director Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Md., according to the USPS website.
Busy soon-to-be-brides and grooms don’t need to fret about the change, though. They can purchase these new stamps online, by phone or at their local post office.
